This might prove useful to others on the Tips and
Tricks page of your site. I found this the hardway after
working on a large scenery and having to go back and redit a bunch of my Runway
Hold Lines. This is the
only taxiway line in which care must be taken during layout or your lines end up
reversed. The FAA regs
state that the dashed portion of the Runway Hold Line must face the runway.
When marking Runway Hold Lines on taxiways, the dashed line portion of the
Runway Hold Line must be placed
facing the runway (according to FAA regs). To save yourself time when creating
your taxiways (and not having to
redit a bunch of lines), think of a runway running east to west (9/27) with a
taxiway crossing perpendicular to this
(north to south). To place a Runway Hold Line on the north side of the runway,
point one of the line goes on the
west side of the taxiway. On the south side of the runway, reverse point one to
the east side of the taxiway.
When you compile and view your work you will find that this small attention to
forethought will save you an
immense amount of rework.
